Whereas the dream for many youthful players will always be to play for the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions, Gor Mahia, Apollo Otieno, until recently a Kaklamega High School midfielder, has opted for a different route.
Apollo has been at the center of a transfer tussle between Gor Mahia and Chemelil Sugar but the youthful midfielder opted to join Chemelil Sugar where he has penned a two year deal ahead of the 2016 season.
While Gor Mahia is still making last ditch efforts to lure him to Nairobi, he says his heart is at the Millers and he puts it clear that in Chemelil he will get a lot of play time as compared to Gor Mahia.
“I want to play at Chemelil Sugar and that is where my heart is; I know Gor Mahia is a big team but what I want more is play time and I believe I will get that at Chemelil. So for now Gor Mahia should stop with the chase.
“I have signed a two year deal and I hope it shall be well here,” he said.
Apollo says he is hoping to get a national team call in the year.
