NFF set for more legal battle over Anambra FA elections

Olisa Aniuno - NFF

Chairmanship aspirant in the 2016 Anambra State FA elections, Olisa Aniuno has slammed the Nigeria Football Federation for organizing a ‘sham election’ in the state, which has thrown Ifeanyi Ubah as chairman in rather controversial circumstances.

The NFF had announced Wednesday May 4 for elections into the board of the Anambra State FA, but surprisingly, ‘elections’ held on May 3, 24 hours before the scheduled date, which has now prompted Aniuno to petition both the Glass House and the sports minister, Solomon Dalung.

And reacting to the development, Aniuno said the NFF can no longer be trusted given how they have conducted themselves.

“I would not trust this NFF because it is still the same characters that orchestrated the sham that was called an election in Anambra State,” he told

“We know we can no longer trust what they (NFF) say, but if they follow the rules and don’t compromise, we should be able to get a good result.

“But we are saying is that we have lost that trust, because we trusted them and I made such pronouncements that we had full confidence in the Ephraim Chukwuemeka committee, only for them to disappoint us,” he said.

Aniuno also added that despite not being quick to rush to the courts, he would have no problems going that route.

“I would not have any other choice (than going to court),” he said. “We have to first of all ask the football house to get their house in order but it doesn’t mean we don’t know what to do legally,” he added.
