Algeria wallop Lesotho to send message to Nigeria

The Desert Foxes of Algeria have sent a big message to the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the other teams in their 2018 World Cup qualifying group after putting SIX goals past a hapless Lesotho in their final 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

The Algerians had already qualified for the tournament before facing the Crocodiles of Lesotho, but that didn’t stop them from scoring six times, sealing an almost perfect run on the qualifiers, having won five of their six games and drew the other one to finish with 16 points, while scoring 20 goals in the process.

Goals from Saphir Taider, Ryad Boudebouz and braces from Riyad Mahrez and Hilal Soudani ensured the Algerians sent a very clear message to their World Cup qualifying group opponents.

Algeria are in the same group as Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia for the 2018World Cup qualifiers which begin next month, when they host Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions.

Nigeria meanwhile, won her own final 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with a 1-0 win over Tanzania, albeit being an inconsequential result, seeing as both countries have already failed to make the competition proper next year.

The Super Eagles will however begin their own quest to be at the next World Cup when they visit Zambia next month, before hosting Algeria the month after.
