Cameroonian midfielder Alex Song has left Barcelona to join Russian club Rubin Kazan on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old former Cameroon player was initially expected to join Rubin on loan but has opted otherwise; signing a permanent deal after terminating his Barca deal.
Barcelona confirmed the termination of contract with Song on their official website.
” FC Barcelona and player Alex Song have reached an agreement to terminate the contact that bound the two parties.
“FC Barcelona wishes the Cameroonian luck and much success in what follows of his professional career,” part of the statement released by the Catalan giants on Monday read.
Song, who left Arsenal to sign a five-year deal with Barcelona in 2012, made 65 appearances for the Catalan club and scored one goal.
He had spent the last two seasons on loan at Premier League side West Ham but he was largely limited last season and was thus left off the books like the Nigerian duo of Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike who were also on loan at the West London club last season.
