Nigerian wonderkid Seyi Ojo has been challenged to do more at Anfield following a series of appearances for the senior team in the premier league, according to Liverpool Academy director Alex Inglethorpe.
The 18-year-old made 17 appearances for Wolves in the Championship—of which five were starts—scoring twice and contributing three assists.
He was recalled to Anfield due to multiple injuries to the senior squad and immediately made impact on his return as he found the net for in the Reds’ FA Cup third round replay against Exeter City at Anfield and, to date, has made four senior appearances for the Merseysiders.
Speaking to the Liverpool official website, academy director Alex Inglethorpe said: “That experience at Wolves would have helped him and Sheyi is starting to realise what it will take for him to have an impact on the first team,” Inglethorpe told LiverpoolFC.com.
“I really like working with Sheyi and he is someone who I have seen a huge improvement in over the last two to three years,” he contined.
“It was fantastic to see him make his Premier League debut and the next challenge for him is to try now to make a Premier League start.
“He has got a lot of wonderful competition around him and what he has to do is find a way of ticking the next box, which is to start a Premier League game.”
