NPFL match preview: Ifeanyi Ubah v Kano Pillars

FC Ifeanyi Ubah of Nnewi will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions when the clash against five time champions Kano  Pillars on Sunday.

However, the Anambra Warriors will be without two key players in the name of Alberico Da Silva(knock) and Elu Wilson(malaria) but coach Rafael believes that will not affect the team on Sunday.

‘Yes two of our players will not be available on Sunday, Elu and Alberico but the team has very good players capable of replacing them. FC Ifeanyi Ubah has very good players and the fact that we are also on an unbeaten run has also increased our morale. This will help us tomorrow.’

Also backing the team to do well even in his absence is Elu Wilson. The defender doesn’t think that his absence will be felt.

‘My absence doesn’t mean anything, we are a team and our objective is to win tomorrow’s match. It doesn’t matter whether I play or not the boys are capable of getting the result.’

FC Ifeanyi Ubah who are yet to win against Kano Pillars since returning to the top flight of Nigerian football will be hoping to break the jinx on Sunday in front of the home fans. Coach Rafael Everton believes his team has what it takes to win the match.

‘It is a very big match tomorrow, a match between two good side but by the grace of God we will triumph. I believe the match is going to be very tactical and the team that is tactically disciplined will carry the day. We know what is at stake, a win will bring us back into contention to finish in the top three so we are going to play with every seriousness.’

Another player who thinks FC Ifeanyi Ubah has what it takes to defeat Kano Pillars is Benin International, Isaac Loute. The utility player believes that come full time tomorrow the un beaten run will be maintained for FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

‘We have what it takes to defeat Kano Pillars, the atmosphere is camp is good and we are fully focused for tomorrow’s game. I can assure our fans that we will perform better than what we did in Owerri, we are going to do our very best to get all three points tomorrow. Not only the three points but play well and score goals so as to put a smile on our owners face. He has invested a lot of money and a victory is all he deserves tomorrow.’

The former Pillars man went on to declare that the players and staff are fully focused on getting a continental ticket this season.

‘We have a target, we want a continental ticket and thus made up our minds to continue our unbeaten run. Like I said earlier, our owner has spent a lot so our only way to reward him is by getting a continental ticket.’

Elu Wilson(malaria) and Alberico (knock), will miss tomorrow’s clash for FC Ifeanyi Ubah. Alberico picked up his injury during the NFF Federation’s Cup quarter final against Warri Wolves in Abeokuta.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah welcome back Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Ismaila Gata, Tope Orelupe, Emmanuel Okoh, Wasiu Jimoh, Stephen Adah and Chijioke Ejiogu who all missed the federation cup quarter finals because they were cup tied.
