Kenneth Omeruo has signed a season-long loan deal with Turkish club, Alanyaspor with the option for a permanent deal, fcnaija.com can confirm.
The 22-year old is set for his fourth loan spell since signing for Chelsea in 2012, and was close to joining Turkish champions Besiktas also on loan, but have now settled for Alanyaspor.
The player has confirmed the development himself, as he captioned a photo of him posed in his new club’s strip on Instagram: “#new challenge.. #thankful #alanyaspor #turkey #superleague #cfc #omeruo ♥️ family”
It is understood that while Besiktas were keen to land him, they were however reluctant to meet Chelsea’s £17m valuation of the player if they were to sign him permanently at the end of the loan spell.
It is however unclear if Alanyasor have met those terms, or if they managed to negotiate a different agreement with the Premier League club.
Omeruo currently earns in the region of £15,000 a week with Chelsea, and the Turkish club will be expected to foot a large chunk of the player’s salary plus bonuses.
The defender spent the last season on loan at another Turkish club, Kasimpasa, while spending the previous two seasons at Middlesbrough and the season before that at ADO Den Haag in Holland.
