Enyimba International and Warri Wolves, Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League now know their foes in the First Round of the prestigious club competition.
While Enyimba FC have opposition from Burundi in Vital ‘ O, Warri Wolves seem to have it tougher having been pitched alongside Sudanese club Al-Merrikh.
To make it to this stage, Enyimba sent their Ugandan opponents Vipers FC packing after posting a 2-1 on aggregate win while on their part, Warri Wolves moved into the first round without kicking a ball after enjoying a walkover on their opponents who were forced to withdraw owing to financial challenges.
Both Vital’O of Burundi and Al-Merrikh of Sudan are strong names in their respective country’s league albeit Vital’O cannot match Enyimba’s record in the CAF Champions League which they have won two times in the last decade.
The winners of the first round matches will progress to the second round with the winners going into the group stage of the competition
First leg matches of the first round will be played between March 11-13, while second leg matches will be played between March 18-20, 2016.
