The Nigeria U17 Women’s team, the Flamingos have been placed in Group C for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Jordan; pitched alongside Brazil, England and Korea DPR in the group phase.
The draw for the group stage of the tournament took place during a major event at the Al-Hussein Cultural Centre in central Amman, on the evening of Monday 30 May with Nigeria’s Coach Bala Nikyu in attendance alongside coaches of other qualified teams
Ghana the other African team on parade will be campaigning in Group D where they are pitched alongside USA, Paraguay and Japan.
Ghana interestingly are the only African country to reach the semis of this tournament.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is Jordan’s first major international tournament. Matches will take place in the capital, Amman as well as Irbid and Zarqa.
The 5th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals will hold 30th September – 21st October this year.
