Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe has joined Sunderland as a free agent following his exit from West Brom.
He teams up with David Moyes again after the pair worked together at Everton.moyes it was, who gave Anichebe his breakthrough at Goodison Park, even though the Scot later left for Manchester United.
Moyes had struggles to sign strikers during the transfer window, as Jermain Defoe remained his only option in attack following the injury to Fabio Borini which will keep him out until December.
Anichebe left West Brom after his contract expired and the Baggies failed to renew it, ending his three-year spell at the Hawthorns where he scored just six goals in 55 appearances.
While the 28-year old is known for his powerful style of play, he is however not a prolific scorer as his six years at Everton provided only 18 goals in 131 games.
He will however provide an option for the Black Cats seeing how dire they have been this season, with only Defoe the senior striking option left.
