Stoke City Coach, Mark Hughes have confirmed yet another injury setback for Nigeria striker Osaze Odemwingie.
There were high hopes that Odemwingie could be resurrecting his season through Tuesday’s Capital One Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday but that has now been dashed with the latest setback announced by the Potters’ boss.
“Peter has got a slight hamstring pull, so isn’t available.” Hughes stated in his pre-match press conference.
He added that Phil Bardsley could also be a doubtful deputy after banging his calf in training.
The injury-laden season has limited Odemwingie to just two appearances in the league this season and also two in Cup competitions.
Hughes also confirmed that Jack Butland would be in goal as Shay Given is still recovering from knee surgery.
On his part, Geoff Cameron is expected to resume in central defence after replacing the red-carded Ryan Shawcross at Sunderland at the weekend.
Shawcross serves his one-match ban tomorrow before a probable return against Manchester City on Saturday.
