There will be no changes to the national women’s team, Harambee Starlets technical bench for now, as the newly elected Football Kenya Federation (FKF) makes sweeping changes to the composition of national teams.
The team is scheduled to play the Democratic Republic of Congo in a Women’s African Cup of Nations qualifier on the weekend of 4 – 6 March 2016 and the FKF Vice President Doris Petra has stated that making changes at the moment will destabilize the team.
She however did not rule out future changes while confirming the team will go to camp next week.
“It is too late to change the technical bench; we don’t want to destabilize it ahead of the coming match. We will however consider making changes in future. We expect the team to report in camp as soon as possible, probably before Wednesday next week,” she said.
Petra’s statement means Sofapaka head coach David Ouma stays on as the coach assisted by Mary Adhiambo and Lawrence Webo will continue serving as the goalkeeper trainer.
Petra confirmed a number of changes will be announced on the other national teams with the emphasis placed on the youth.
