Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is determined to keep midfielder Dele Alli grounded after he broke into the first team in a very short period of time.
The 19-year-old, who has played in eight of Spurs’ 10 games this season saw his good form earn him a call-up to the English Three Lions ahead of Euro 2016 qualifiers with Estonia and Lithuania next week.
Dele Alli’s rise has drawn a lot of attention from different quarters with some tipping him to become an England regular in the nearest future and Pochettino is ready to help him deal with the hype.
“I’m very happy for Dele, it’s important to look after him. We have a great relationship with [England manager] Roy Hodgson and his staff,” he told reporters after Thursday’s 1-1 Europa League draw at AS Monaco.
“We have to keep his feet on the ground but he’s very mature on and off the pitch.”
Alli was again in action for the Lilywhites in the Europa League last night as they drew 1-1 away to AS Monaco.
