Belgium side Anderlecht with the help of Nigerian international Imoh Ezekiel handed Tottenham Hotspurs their first defeat in the Europa league with a 2-1 win at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
Spurs were rated as favourites heading into the match and manager Mauricio Pochettino put forward a very strong team and that paid off as Denmark midfield gem Christian Eriksen capitalized on a defensive bridge to coolly slot home the first goal.
That spurred the home side into action as they look to fight their way back into the match and they got a deseverd equaliser in the 12th minute via Guillaume Gillet who thrilled a powerful right shot into the net after Spurs failed to clear from a corner.
Imoh saw a long range shot wave narrowly wide but Spurs were didn’t sit back as they controlled possession. However, it was Anderlecht that got the next goal as Stefano Okaka swept home a low cross from close range to give his side a 2-1 win.
The result takes Anderlect equal on four points with Tottenhan Hotspurs after three matches so far in Group J of the Europa League.
