Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Technical Director Andreas Spiers led the Kenya U17 national team to the 2016 COSAFA U17 championships which get underway on Friday 22 July and he is confident the team will gain massively from it.
Kenya U17 will be a guest team in the tournament in Mauritius, having been invited to replace Mozambiqu and Spiers, who took charge of the team ahead of the tournament says he has good quality players who can perform at the tournament.
This will be the first ever international experience for the players and ahead of departure to Mauritius for the tournament, on Tuesday 19 July afternoon, Spiers termed the tournament a good exposure, noting that they will be looking to get past the group stages.
“We have a very good group of players, made up of youngsters ready to learn and I believe they will do well at the tournament, the target being to get past the group stages and possible go much further.
“The players have just come together after the national selection but they have had some days in camp together and I believe this tournament will give them a good exposure and a platform to showcase their talent,” he said.
Kenya will be in Group B in the tournament alongside Madagascar, Zambia and Malawi.
