The Kenya U17 national team head coach Andreas Spiers will be looking to guide the team to an opening win at the COSAFA U17 tournament when they take on Zambia U17 in the Friday 22 July Group B clash and he says the team is all braced for the encounter set for 11am EAT.
Kenya is taking part as a guest team and was pooled in Group B alongside Zambia, Madagascar and Malawi and the coach admits it is a tough group but he is confident they can get to the semi finals.
The team traveled to Mauritius on Tuesday 19 July and after the long trip to Mauritius, the German, in a joint briefing with other coaches at the tournament, said the team’s resolve is still strong and they are prepared for the assignment.
“We are happy to be here and we are ready to play our first match against Zambia. We made a long trip to come to Mauritius and yet, the mindset of the players is still strong.
“It is a tough draw for us, our worry is not only Zambia but also Malawi and Madagascar. All those teams play a very good football and we need to be careful. We will take it one match at a time and our main objective is to play the semifinals,” he said as quoted on cosafa.com.
