Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has hit out at a section of Sevilla fans for booing him after he scored the opener in the 2016 Spanish Super Cup first leg on Sunday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium on Sunday.
Second half goals from Luis Suárez and Munir set things up nicely for the return leg at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
The Uruguayan’s opener for Barcelona was followed by a group of Sevilla fans barracking abuse in his direction, and the Uruguayan was not impressed by their efforts to take his thunder.
“It’s a good advantage, especially as we’re playing the second leg at home.
“We’re aware that [Sevilla] have a new Coach and we didn’t know too much about him. It’s important that [my goal] served to [help us] win.
“[On the fans who jeered him], they can keep talking, I just play football. Instead of coming to see the show, they want to steal the show.
“It seems we’re obliged to play at our best level for 95 minutes.” Suarez is quoted by football Espana as saying in a post-match interview.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Andres Iniesta will be out for two weeks with a knee injury and defender Jeremy Mathieu for three weeks due to a hamstring problem.
