Senegal International Sadio Mane and Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho were the top actors on Sunday as Southampton romped to a 4-2 win over Manchester City in their Premier League clash at St Mary’s.
Iheanacho was on target in the 44th and the 78th minute but his effort was not enough to save the day for the Citizens who stay in fourth place behind Arsenal and just above city rivals, Manchester United.
Sadio Mane was the main man on Sunday as he scored a hat-trick as Southampton kept their European hopes alive with the crucial 4-2 win over Manchester City.
Trailing to goals from Shane Long and Mane, fourth-place Man City had a lifeline before the interval when Iheanacho headed home from close range.
Southampton scored a third just before the hour through Mane, however, the Senegal international completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute.
The first goal for Iheanacho in the day’s game when he headed home from close range after Martina had failed to clear inside his own box.
The 19-year old Nigeria scored his second for Manuel Pellegrini’s side 12 minutes from time, but the damage had already been done as Man City prepare to travel to the Bernabeu next week off the back of a disappointing performance.
The Nigerian finished for the visitors, however, and scored his second of the match 12 minutes from time when he curled a beautiful effort into the far corner to notch his 13th of the season.
