Ken yan international Victor Wanyama returned to action for his English Premier League side Southampton in the 3 – 0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 16 January at the St. Mary Stadium.
Wanyama had sat out the last two matches suspended after receiving his second red card of the season in the game against Norwich on Saturday 2 January and had a clean game against West Bromwich Albion.
His pass accuracy and ball winning tackles in the game were ranked the best by BBC in their Match of the Day commentary, having managed 87% pass accuracy with 63 touches and 54 passes.
He was better than West Brom duo of Darren Fletcher and Claudio Yacob combined who had 30 passes.
Southampton were dominant and deservedly got the opener on the fifth minute through James Ward – Prowse who curled in a free kick after Sadio Mane had been fouled by Craig Dawson. That was his first goal of the season and the second didn’t take long.
Craig Dawson, once again, on the 25th minute took out Matt Targett, this time in the box and Ward – Prowse stepped up to coolly slot home the penalty for a 2 – 0 half time lead.
Dusan Tadic rose off the bench to complete the rout with a 71st minute goal, benefitting greatly from a fine run and pass by Matt Targett.
The win sees the Saints storm back to the top half on 30 points.
