Collins Shivachi was once again on the mark to save the 2009 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka from the jaws of defeat as they drew 2 – 2 with Sony Sugar at the Afraha Stadium on Saturday 17 October.
Sony Sugar, the one with the best form of the two rightly took the lead on the 10th minute through Byroin Odiaga who stretched to poke in the opener from a corner but the lead lasted only until the 29th minute with Ekaliana Ndolo leveling matters.
Victor Ademba restored the millers’ lead on the 44th minute and just when they thought they would take the lead to the break, Collins Shivachi struck with powerful syhot from the edge of the box on the 45th minute.Having shared s
poils in the first leg, Sony Sugar will take the advantage going to the second leg as the Millers were playing as the away team. Sofapaka will want to avoid a repeat of the 2011 elimination at the hands of Western Stima on away goals.
The return leg will be staged in Narobi on Wenesday 4 November.
