The 2009 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka will be without their Congolese marksman Robert Binja for the remaining matches of the first leg as the team fights to rise from the drop zone.
The striker picked a knee injury in the KPL Week 9 clash with Kakamega Homeboyz at the Machakos County Stadium and head coach David Ouma has confirmed he will not return any time soon.
Sofapaka has four matches remaining in the first leg, starting with Sony Sugar on Saturday 7 May and the coach revealed that Binja will be missed though he is confident he can be well replaced.
“We have most of our players fit for the match and we will be ready. The only injury concern we have is with Binja who as it stands, is ruled out for the remaining matches in the first leg.
“The doctor is scheduled to have a good assessment at his injury but from the initial assessment, he will be out for weeks and also since it is a knee injury it is not advisable to have him rushed back.
“We will miss him because he is a senior player but we have to move on,” he said.
