The former Amakhosi captain has been riddled with injuries over the past two seasons, and former keeper William Shongwe believes the problem stems from poor preparation before the campaign starts.
“For Khune, I’m sure this is the season he will want to forget very quickly,” Shongwe told Goal.com
“For the number of injuries he has had so far and also for not starting that well after contractual disagreements he had with the club,” he said.
“I think for me what could be the talking point here is, but I do not know if this is the perfect scenario, what kind of pre-season did Khune have?
“When we talk pre-season, we are talking every aspect of a player’s preparation that puts him in good conditions and makes him ready for the whole season.
“I mean there are other aspects where players get injured because they are not fit and because they did not prepare well.
“For me, as an outsider, I’m beginning to look at this and say, ‘wow, has that pre-season disruptions had anything to do with the way things are going now?’” Shongwe added to Goal.
