Super Eagles B team assistant captain, Chima Akas is over the heels with qualification of Nigeria for the 2016 African Nations Championship, CHAN.
The home-based Eagles picked one of the available 15 tickets after a barren draw in Ouagadougou on Sunday, to qualify for the Championship via 2-0 on score aggregate and for Akas it was deserving to Nigeria make it to Rwanda.
“We deserve to qualify considering our performance in both fixtures; we played better both home and away. I’m excited will achieve our aims and target,” Akas told SupportTheNPFL.com in a chat from Ouagadougou.
Sharks FC defender, who captained the team in both legs of the qualifiers praised his team mates, technical crew, the Federation and passionate Nigerian fans.
“We are happy and joyful, we give thanks to God for the success achieved, his favour and grace.
“Kudos to my team mates, we were all committed and we gave our best, fortunate for us our best secured the ticket.
“We appreciate the technical crew for their hard work and effort dedicated to the team and the believe they had in us to deliver, the camping and travelling arrangements of the Federation and the super support from all Nigerians.
“We are through to the championship, we are happy and we are savouring the moment,” Akas said.
The Eagles made their maiden appearance at the 2014 edition of the CHAN tournament in South Africa where they ended up as bronze medallist.
They will hope to do better in Rwanda next year.
