Sevilla progressed to their third Europa League final in a row after beating Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 on Thursday evening, and 5-3 on aggregate.
Kevin Gameiro opened the scoring for Sevilla on nine minutes, having scored a late equalizer in Ukraine last week.
Eduardo however equalized just before the break to give Shakhtar some lifeline, but it was Gameiro who put Sevilla ahead again shortly after the restart, as they seemed to be on cruise control.
Mariano then doubled the Spanish side’s lead on 59 minutes, with Shakhtar’s chances of a comeback now looking impossible.
The Spaniards were able to hold on till the end, as they celebrated another Europa League final qualification.
They will face Liverpool in the final. The Reds defeated Villareal 3-0 at Anfield also on Thursday, and 3-1 on aggregate.
