We begin this week’s review of the Serie A with Napoli, who maintained their lead with a 1-0 win over 10-man Carpi at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples. Gonzalo Higuain was once again the hero as he converted a 69th minute penalty after Carpi had been reduced to 10-men in the 56th minute.
Juventus remained second following their 2-0 win at relegation threatened Frosinone. Goals from Juan Cuadrado and Paolo Dybala were enough for the Old Lady to keep up the chase with Napoli.
AS Roma got closer to Inter Milan as they close in on the Champions League places following a 2-1 win over Sampdoria while Inter were involved in a 3-3 thriller at Verona.
Fiorentina still occupy the last Champions League spot despite a 1-1 draw with Bologna, while AC Milan also recorded the same score-line at home to Udinese.
Atalanta drew goalless with Empoli while Sassuolo drew 2-2 with Palermo. Torino were beaten 2-1 at home by Chievo while Genoa were held to a goalless draw at home by Lazio.
At the end of round 24, Napoli maintain their lead in Serie A, with 56 points while Juventus remain second with 54 points. Fiorentina, Inter Milan, AS Roma and AC Milan occupy the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with only one point separating Inter from Roma.
At the bottom of the table, Verona remains stuck at the foot of the table, while Frosinone and Carpi occupy the other relegations slots. Sampdoria, Genoa and Palermo are not far off.
