The 2016/17 Serie A season enters its second week and already, there has been some interesting results, as the table also looks interesting. Champions Juventus continued their fine start with a win, while the Milan clubs struggled. Read on as we review week 2 of the ongoing Serie A season.
Napoli v AC Milan
Milan couldn’t keep up with the pace from last week as they were beaten 4-2 by last season’s runners-up in a feisty encounter that produced two red cards.
First half goals by Arkadiusz Milik set Napoli on cruise control, but Milan returned to score twice within 10 minutes of the restart to level the score.
Jose Callejon restored Napoli’s lead in the 74th minute and a minute later, Juaraj Kucka received two bookings within a space of one minute to reduce Milan to 10 men. Mamadou Niang then got his own marching orders two minutes before full time, but Callejon had enough time to make the numerical advantage count, as he scored his second and Napoli’s fourth.
Lazio v Juventus
The champions carried on from where they stopped last week, this time Sami Khedira with the solitary goal that proved the winner for the Old Lady.
Inter Milan v Palermo
Frank De Boer’s second Serie A game in charge of the Nerazzurri was better than the first, but still wouldn’t have been what he would have hoped for. Andrea Rispoli broke the deadlock for Palermo, before Mauro Icardi leveled to earn a point for the former champions.
