The round of Week 11 fixtures for the Italian Serie A over the weekend continued with Inter Milan and Fiorentina preserving the status quo as joint league leaders, after victories over Roma and Frosinone respectively.
Fiorentina are back on top of the table alongside Inter after absolutely dominating Frosinone with a 4-1 win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. This scoreline is the highest recorded this weekend and this will be morale booster for Paulo Sousa’s men before they square hop against Sampdoria next weekend.
Meanwhile, the ‘Giallorossi’ missed the golden chance to top the log as they succumbed to Gary Medel’s solitary effort that earned the points for Internazionale at San Siro on Saturday. To add salt to the injury of defeat, Miralem Pjanic saw red in the game. The other San Siro based side AC Milan ran riot with a 3-1 win at Lazio that puts them in joint fifth place, only five points off the Serie A leaders.
Elsewhere, title contender Napoli failed to deliver when it mattered most as the played a goalless draw against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and the hopes of joint leadership of the Serie A log were dashed.
Reigning champions Juventus are ploughing their way back to a mid-table position, after the defeated fierce city rivals Torino as new recruit Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea on loan delivered the spoils of victory deep into stoppage time in the ‘Derby della Mole’ in Turin.
The final games of the weekend will see Chievo trading tackles against Sampdoria at home, while Palermo welcome Empoli at the Renzo Barbera tonight.
