Former Real Madrid midfielder Clarence Seedorf believes no matter what happens in the UEFA Champions League final tonight, when Real Madrid faces Atletico Madrid, it will not be enough to judge Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane took over from Rafa Benitez in January 2016 and has managed to solidify a shaky Real Madrid side to the extent of guiding the team to the Champions League final but Seedorf believes the only way his contribution can be judged is by having him spend a full season.
It is not yet clear whether the Frenchman will still be at the Real helm in the coming season but Seedorf hopes so and admits he has changed a lot for the better at the club.
“For me, success is what he will do from next year. I’m not going to judge him as a coach for these five months. It’s great for him, he’s achieved the final and improved on what the situation was.
“But I don’t judge coaches just for good results, so hopefully next year he will have the possibility to start the season and we can really see the hand of Zidane.” He told Omnisport.
