Barclays Premier League side Southampton FC, home to Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama had a poor start to the year 2016, falling 0 – 1 away to Norwich in the league match staged at Carrow Road.
It was particularly a bad outing for the Kenyan international who was given his marching orders by referee Mark Clattenburg on the 73rd minute after committing a second bookable offence.
Wanyama, 24, was on his 18th match of the season and the sending off is his second this season after the initial one in the game against AFC Bournemouth earlier on. It was his fifth red card overall in his professional career.
Ghanaian Alexander Tettey scored the solitary goal in the 76th minute to send the hosts to 14th place on the 20-team table with 23 points. Ronald Koeman’s side dropped to 13th place on 24 points from 20 rounds.
