Former Amakhosi midfielder Gert Schalkwyk believes they can still win the ABSA Premiership despite Mamelodi Sundowns healthy lead.
He believes George Lebese’s return to form could see them march ahead.
“I think injuries are the reason for George to have lost the form that we saw in the first round,” Schalkwyk told Goal.com
“I know him personally and I played with him. Once you get injured when you on form, you somehow lose focus.
“So, he must get there and think about how he started the season and what is happening now.
“Maybe there’s something he is doing wrong. So, he must ask himself what he did wrong in the past three months.”
Lebese has indeed disappeared from the radar after a strong start to the season, and having also impressed when Chiefs won the title last season. He no longer has his partner in action Mandla Masango which may be another reason for his struggles.
“He will bounce back because he is a good player and has a strong character.
“I’m confident that he will get his groove back soon because he listens and seeks advice.
“So like I said, he should go back to the start of the season, sit back and think about the things that helped him to shine.
“I still think there is a lot that he can do for Chiefs in their revival this season,” Schalkwyk concluded to Goal.com
