Safa president Dr Danny Jordaan has confirmed that Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba’s job is on the line.
This comes after South Africa failed to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
“What we have to do now is to wait for the final match and then there will be a review of the entire competition of AFCON and then we have to see what is the adjustment, in which areas must we change and strengthen,” Jordaan told reporters on Monday. “But that we cannot do that now, we have to wait for the competitions to close,” he said.
However there is hope for Mashaba as Safa haven’t decided whether to sack him or not, meaning that they will probably be looking at other options in the meantime. It’s possible that if they can’t find an adequate replacement then Mashaba will stay on.
“He [Mashaba] must first finish his match, I don’t think that you talk about another match while you are in this match,” added the Safa president.
