Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo kept the European dream alive for the Spanish giants with a hat trick against German side VfL Wolfsburg which turned the tide after a 0 – 2 loss in the first leg and took the moment to throw a jibe at his critics.
The Portuguese forward has been criticized this season over his attitude and form away from home and at some point had to endure boos from home fans but after his treble on Tuesday 12 April, which earned Real Madrid a semi final slot the forward reminded critics that goals are in his DNA.
And rightly so; the Portuguese star has scored 46 goals in all competition this season and he is the La Liga and Champions League top scorer.
He however termed the night that saw him reach 16 goal in the Champions League not his best but magical for him and the team
“It was not the best, but one of my best, European nights,” said Ronaldo.
“It was a magic night for me. I’m very happy after having scored three goals and raised my numbers, but the most important thing was the team. The team was intense and played very well. It is a beautiful night.
“People can criticise me but I just keep on going and the numbers are there for all to see. I am very happy and with a month left of the season I can get even better.
“It’s not bad, is it? Goals are in my DNA and I want to keep scoring them for the team,” he said.
