Germany Olympic football team Head Coach, Horst Hrubesch has stated that his team are battle-ready to face the Nigeria U-23 team in Wednesday’s semi-finals match in the men’s football tournament of 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
With their eyes fixed on gold, Coach Hrubesch said his players are eager to get going against the African champions who he admitted would be a difficult nut to crack.
Germany were ruthless in their quarter final game as they thrashed Portugal 4-0 in Saturday’s game and they are high on confidence as they will face Nigeria in the last four.
Despite the myriad of their off-the-pitch issues, Nigeria saw off Denmark 2-0, with goals from skipper John Mikel Obi and Aminu Umar and are now set for the tough German test.
Looking ahead to Wednesday clash, Hrubesch, a former Germany international, praised Nigerian team’s impressive showing so far in the tournament.
“I believed that Nigeria would beat Denmark,” Hrubesch told the German Football Federation official website.
“They have a strong team and there is a lot of quality there. We’re looking forward to facing them in the last four,” the Germany Coach added.
