Coach Samson Siasia is believed to have had fruitful deliberations with the duo of John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo as he seeks to know their availability or otherwise for the fast approaching Rio Olympics.
Siasia has three slots for over-aged players in his Olympic squad and the likes of Mikel and Ighalo are seen as possible choices to fill the quota in the Dream Team VI that would be fighting for gold in Brazil later in the year.
“Yes, Siasia has met with Mikel, he was at Stanford Bride for the Chelsea game against Leicester City, he has also met with Ighalo” a source in London told FCNaija.com
Aside meeting Mikel and Ighalo, it is understood that Siasia while in London will also have talks with the trio of Victor Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi as he looks towards getting the best legs for the showdown in Rio.
Nigeria have been drawn in the same group with Sweden, Japan and Colombia at the men’s football event of the Summer Olympic Games – Rio Olympics
Siasia led Nigeria to a second-place finish at the Beijing 2008 Olympics; losing in the finals to a Lionel-Messi inspired side.
This term, Siasia is craving to go one step better to repeat the feat of the Atlanta’ 96 team which 20 years ago beat the likes of Argentina and Brazil to gold.
