The Super Eagles duo of Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo has popped up as early candidates for slots in the Nigeria team to next year’s Rio Olympics.
Head Coach of the Nigeria U-23 Samson Siasia said on a TV programme that he has been monitoring the progress of the two players at their different clubs and would be glad to have them bolster his team if they can keep the top form till the period for the Olympics.
“I’m still undecided on the areas that the overage players would be needed, but I’m happy that the likes of Ighalo (Odion), (Ahmed) Musa, are in top form now and I hope they will sustain it until the Olympics,” the Nigeria U23 coach stated.
With their triumph at the recently concluded Africa U-23 Cup of Nations held in Senegal, the Dream Team VI are heading to Rio as African champions and have thus called for proper preparations in order not to disappoint at the big stage.
Recall that Nigeria won Gold at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics but settled for Silver at the Beijing Olympics in which Coach Siasia was also in charge.
