With the Absa Premiership title, the Nedbank Cup, and the CAF Champions League all still to play for, nearly every game takes on massive importance for Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Brazilians currently enjoy a four point lead over Bidvest Wits in the race for the league championship, while Downs will be fancying their chances of moving into the Nedbank Cup last eight as they prepare for Saturday’s last 16 showdown against Mbombela United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. In the CAF Champions League, the Tshwane team are set to play DR Congo club AS Vita in the second round, away from home on the weekend of the 8-10 April, the return leg to take place 10 days later.
Modise feels that with a host of his team-mates currently at the very top of their respective games, the signs are looking good for Sundowns.
“We are looking forward to resuming the league. We ended on a good run and want to continue doing so. There are only seven games left to play this season and we have to make sure that we finish strong as a team,” the midfield playmaker stated on his personal website.
“Look my teammates have been displaying great football recently. We have won a lot of games because of all the players in the team. Yes Khama [Billiat], [Leonardo] Castro and [Keagan] Dolly have been pivotal in their roles. The likes of [Hlompho] Kekana as well, he scored a beautiful goal for Bafana and I think he has a chance of cementing his place in the national team.
“So with all these factors taken into consideration we will do best by going all the way in the league and in other competitions.”
