Chelsea striker Loic Remy has emerged as a loan target for French club Saint-Etienne although any such deal would have to see the Blues pay part of his salary, according to the team’s coach Christophe Galtier.
Remy has found playing time with the champions limited this season despite first-choice striker, Diego Costa struggling for form – with the Brazilian having scored just one more goal than the Frenchman in all competitions.
Remy came on to score Chelsea’s consolation goal in the 2-1 defeat against Leicester City on Monday night, and Saint-Etienne boss Galtier has now revealed the striker – whose career took off in France following spells with Lyon, Nice and Marseille – is a loan target for the Ligue 1 side in January.
When asked whether Saint-Etienne are interested in making a move for Remy, Galtier told French publication But Football Club: “Yes. Loic Remy has a very interesting profile.
“He is part of a very big club where he is playing little.
“We will see if it is possible that Chelsea will loan him us, but Chelsea should also support part of the salary.
“I do not know if it is possible but Loic is listed.”
