Kenyan international Victor Wanyama was sent off in his team Southampton’s 2 – 0 win over AFC Bournemouth in the English Premier League clash played at St Mary’s on Sunday 1 November.
The Harambee Stars skipper was first booked on the 21st minute, his fourth yello card of the season though he went on to give a solid display as Southampton took the lead through Steven Davis on the 31st minute and Graziano Pelle on the 36th.
Bournemouth came back more inspired in the second half and did well to pressure the hosts though Wanyama was a key man with a good defensive output.
It however went awry for the burly midfielder on the 77th minute when he went in with a sliding tackle on Lee Tomlin, picking him out together with the ball and referee Craig Pawson had an easy decision to make, unleashing the second yellow.
The sending off comes immediately after Sadio Mane was sent off in the last premier league game, against Liverpool and Wanyama, who skippered the team against Aston Villa in the League Cup, will now miss the game against Sunderland.
