Real Madrid midfielder Denis Cheryshev’s search for playing time has seen him move to Spanish La Liga side Valencia on a six – month loan on transfer deadline day, Monday 1 February.
The Russian, 25, has made just one start for the La Liga giants this season and five substitute appearances, only two of which have come in the league.
After previously serving on loan at Villareal and Sevilla, the midfielder was hopeful he can command a regular starting place at Real but has found competition stiff and termed it a big opportunity to play for Valencia.
“It is a big opportunity for me and I hope to be up to the challenge,” he said after the move.
He will be hoping for his debut against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and will be seeking to help his team beat the giants.
“It is true that the team is going through a difficult time, but with hard work everything is possible. Barcelona are a great opponent, but Valencia also can also do some damage.” He added.
