Real Madrid defender Pepe has returned to training ahead of the Los Blancos trip to Las Palmas.
The Portuguese missed the 1-1 draw against Villarreal on Wednesday night due to a knee injury but has rejoined the group to the delight of manager Zinedine Zidane and the fans.
In Pepe’s absence, Frenchman Raphaël Varane paired Sergio Ramos in the heart of defense but Madrid went on to concede and drew the game which denied them setting a new record for the longest winning streak in the La Liga as they remained tied with Barcelona on 16.
However, with Pepe back, the Los Blancos are struggling for the fitness of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric who also missed the game against the Yellow Submarines.
Also, Casemiro trained separately after suffering calf injury but Brazilian left back Marcelo who limped out of the encounter against Villarreal joined in full training.
“The players who started the game against the Castellon outfit carried out a recovery session using the indoor facilities, however some of them also took to the pitch to carry out running exercises,” Madrid posted on their official website.
“The Whites carried out several drills geared towards pressing and possession, crossing and shots on goal. Afterwards they played a match on a reduced size pitch. Pepe undertook an individual programme out on the pitch and Casemiro trained using the indoor facilities.”
