Four players will not be eligible for their teams when the 18th round of action in the 2016 season of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) gets underway from Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th July, with eight matches on the cards.
Top scorer Wycliffe Ochomo of Muhoroni Youth FC will be the highest ranking absentee from the KPL. The striker is on a red card after being sent off in the match against Sony Sugar the last time out and as such will miss his team’s match against Posta Rangers on Sunday.
Ochomo will be joined on the sidelines by Nairobi City Stars’ Ugandan forward Jimmy Bageya. The diminutive forward is on his fifth yellow card of the season. He is thus ruled out of the match against Ulinzi Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.
The team most hit with the suspensions on the weekend will be Thika United who will be without two key players in midfielder Samuel Mwanje and Suleiman Ngotho who picked bookings in their loss to AFC Leopards on Saturday 9 July, the two players’ fifth yellow cards apiece.
They thus stand suspended for the match against Western Stima at the Thika Sub County Stadium on Sunday.
