Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile played the last 12 minutes of Monaco’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against Qarabağ in Thursday’s UEFA Europa league game to maintains their two-point gap over the Azerbaijan outfit.
Samuel Armenteros gave Qarabag the lead in the 39th minute but The Les Rogue had substitute Ivan Cavaliero to thank earned them a share of the spoils to claim Group J draw that keeps them two ahead of the Azerbaijani champions.
Qarabag, who had not conceded in their last five European home matches, spurned an early chance to open scoring through Afran Ismayilov, whose shot from inside the box just trickled wide of the post.
Echiejile replaced injured Lacina Traore for his second appearance in the competition this season.
Tottenham Hotspur, who play later this evening against Anderlecht, are currently third in the group, two points behind Monaco, while Qarabag remain at the bottom.
Next games for Monaco is a home fixture against Anderlecht at the Louis Stadium on the 26th of November.
