All eyes will be on the relegation battle when round 29 of the Absa Premiership takes place on Wednesday evening.
Two of the relegation-threatened teams – Maritzburg United and Jomo Cosmos – play in KwaZulu-Natal, while the other – University of Pretoria – are in Limpopo.
Ezenkosi, who are third from bottom and four points ahead of Tuks and the Team of Choice, will secure their top-flight status should they match the results of their two rivals.
Jomo Sono’s men play Lamontville Golden Arrows in KwaMashu.
Maritzburg and Tuks play Ajax Cape Town and Polokwane City at Harry Gwala Stadium and Old Peter Mokaba Stadium respectively, both knowing that victory is essential if they want to beat the drop.
“We know we have a chance, I said beginning of January when I went into this challenging project that the last three, four games will make it,” United boss Ernst Middendorp said. “We are somehow used to it, this situation of nothing to lose.”
Apart from the relegation battle, there will also be some attention on the top eight battle where four teams are fighting for three available spaces.
Only three points separate those sides with Orlando Pirates (40 points) in pole position ahead of Chippa United (39), SuperSport United (38) and Lamontville Golden Arrows (37).
The Buccaneers are away at the Chilli Boys in the Eastern Cape, Matsatsantsa host Mpumalanga Black Aces and Abafana Bes’thende have that game against Cosmos.
Champions Mamelodi Sundowns are away at the team they piped to the championship, Bidvest Wits, in a game that would have had plenty riding on it had the title not been wrapped up last week.
