Amakhosi is back after losing the Soweto Derby on Saturday. They beat Golden Arrows 3-1 in Johannesburg on Tuesday night.
They got a penalty in the fifth minute when Kgotso Moleko was brought down by Matome Mathiane. George Lebese beat Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva for the opener.
Lebese was criticised for his performance against Orlando Pirates and lack of consistency lately, but he doubled the lead in the 23rd minute when Bernard Parker’s shot was parried toward him. The Bafana forward knocked in the rebound.
Siyabonga Dube pulled one back for Abafana Bes’thende in the 51st minute with a great long range strike.
Then Parker sealed Chiefs’ 3-1 victory in the 78th minute when he snatched home a low cross from Mthembu.
Elsewhere, MP Black Aces similarly got back winning with a 3-1 victory over Jomo Cosmos at the Mbombela Stadium.
In the 38th minute Thanduyise Khuboni combined with Lebogang Manyama, to make it 1-0.
Collins Mbesuma then headed home his teammate Bhongolethu Jayiya’s corner-kick for the second.
Nine minutes into the second half, Judas Moseamedi increased Aces’ lead after an assist from Aubrey Modiba.
Cosmos’ Brice Aka scored a consolation with 14 minutes to go.
Polokwane City beat Maritzburg United in an exciting 3-2 game at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Ghanaian striker Mohammed Anas scored from range to make it 1-0 to Maritzburg. Only nine minutes later Thobani Mncwango restored parity with an easy finish.
Maritzburg midfielder Kurt Lentjies netted what seemed like the winning goal in the 83rd minute, but Jabulani Maluleke levelled matters with a well-taken free-kick three minutes later.
Puleng Tlolane summed up a fantastic night of action by pouncing on an error by Maritzburg defender Brian Onyango in injury time.
