Kenyan international Brian Mandela’s 11th game for his Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United ended in dismay as he was sent off on the 65th minute as his team suffered yet another loss, a 1 – 3 reverse away to Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Mandela joined the PSL side at the start of the current campaign and has so far scored three goals as the team looks to rise from the bottom of the log.
Maritzburg had a good start to the match and Kurt Lentjies supplied Deolin Mekoa for 37th minute goal that saw the first half end with the visitors leading.
The second half was not so good for the visitors; Muzikayifani Ngidi leveled matters on the 57th minute and Thobani Mncwango made it 2 – 1 on the 62nd minute before the moment of madness when Mandela handled the ball in the box to earn a red card.
While the hosts got the chance to make it 3 – 1, Jabu Maluleke hit the penalty wide. Sichu Jembele completed the rout on the 87th minute.
Meanwhile, Former Sofapaka forward Fiston Abdoul Razak got the ball rolling in his new club, Bloemfontein Celtic with a goal that helped the team to a 1 – 1 draw with SuperSport United.
