Barcelona was served the first defeat in 40 matches by arch rivals Real Madrid in the El Clasico clash on Saturday 2 April, denting the Catalans’ title run but Barca defender Gerrard Pique has called on quick recovery from the loss at Camp Nou.
Pique scored the opener for the hosts but Real replied with two goals to condemn the Catalans to a loss even though Real were reduced to ten men later on, before they got the winner through Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real skipper Sergio Ramos was sent off on the 82nd minute and two minutes afterwards the visitors got the winner and Pique admits their main undoing was losing control after the sending off.
“We did not know how to play with a player more on the pitch and we lost control after the red card.”
However, he added that Barca, who play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday and also have the Copa del Rey final against Sevilla to look forward to in May, would not allow defeat to demoralise them.
“We have to move on and not dwell on this defeat,” he said. “You cannot always win. We are still in a good position in three competitions,” he said.
