President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has reacted to the Sunday Oliseh ‘YouTube rant’, and says the Super Eagles coach has abused the Nigerian government.
Oliseh had made headlines early in the week after he posted a video on YouTube describing his critics as ‘insane’, as well as daring the Nigeria Football Federation to fire him if they no longer want his services.
Reacting to the development for the first time, Pinnick said the embattled Super Eagles coach must appeal to the people he referred to in the video, especially the Nigerian government which Pinnick says Oliseh has abused.
“He has to appeal to a lot of people,” Pinnick said. “We have to appeal to the (sports) ministry, we have to appeal to the sports minister because if you are abusing the Nigeria Football Federation, it so factors you are abusing the Nigerian government because we are an arm of the Nigerian government, and we are tied to their apron strings.
“We need to appeal to our financiers; we need to appeal to our sponsors, and he needs to appeal to a lot of people and that is the dilemma we are in right now,” Pinnick added.
The 41-year old Oliseh has reportedly been fined N6m for his outbursts, while fcnaija.com has been informed he will be fired if Nigeria fails to make the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
