France international Dimitri Payet has penned a new five-and-a-half-year deal with West Ham United, the club has confirmed.
The 28-year-old has established himself as a key player for Slaven Bilic’s side with outstanding displays that marks him out as one of the star performers in the premier league this season.
It was rumoured that Payet will leave Upton Park at the end of the season with top clubs already monitoring his progress in his debut season in the premier league but has now committed his long-term future to the capital outfit to douse such speculations.
The France international’s form has seen him thrust right back in contention for a place in Les Bleus’ squad for the European Championship on home soil at the end of this season.
West Ham currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and are in the hunt for a European place in what is their final season at the Boleyn Ground before they move to the Olympic Stadium next term.
Payet joined the West Ham from Marseille last summer and will look to mark his new improved deal with a star performance against Norwich City at Carrow Road this weekend.
