Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that German playmaker Mesut Ozil will return against Chelsea in their Premier League London derby next weekend after missing out in the goalless draw with Stoke City.
The former Real Madrid star was a surprise omission from the Gunners squad that faced the Potters but it was later claimed that Ozil picked up a foot injury and illness.
However, Wenger insists that it is not a serious problem and hinted that Ozil will be fit for Sunday’s showdown at the Emirates.
“Yesterday morning he was not very well. He already was not 100% at Liverpool so I decided to leave him out. I think he should be back for next Sunday,” he told reporters.
Ozil has been one of Arsenal’s top performers with 16 assists already this season, just four short of the all-time single-season Premier League record held by former gunner Thierry Henry.
