Former Uganda Cranes skipper Andrew Mwesigwa has taken to social media to rant at his national team head coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic’s move to leave him out of the team preparing for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Burkina Faso.
Micho named his squad for the match, overlooking the defender despite his fine form at his Vietnamese club, Ha Noi and the 31 – year old did not take it lightly.
“I am surprised. I have never announced my retirement from the national team and am currently active at my club where I am part of a back line that has kept many clean sheets,” he said.
The coach is on record stating that he is building a strong team for 2019 and beyond but Mwesigwa feels that is poor planning from the Serbian who led Uganda to the CECAFA Senior Challenge title in 2015.
“I have reservations for Project 2019. It should be first things first. We have a big chance this time round as we are topping the group after two games and who knows who we shall draw in the qualification for AFCON 2019. What if they are tougher opponents than what is at hand now?” he wondered.
